We worked with another lender for our pre-appoval letter and received a competitive rate, once we put an offer on the house. My friend referred us to Jon and his team to get a back up quote. Jon was very professional and provided us a great deal. We were 60 days out and he was able to guarantee the rate for us. The online loan process was fairly straightforward - uploading docs to the site was easy. I will say that the underwriting requirements were very stringent. We were very happy with Jon and Rosa.

Hurry up and wait
There is a team of officers that we spoke with so it wasn't just one person. Everyone we spoke with was kind and said they wanted this process to be as smooth as possible, however would call at 9:30am and would pressure us to submit documents by noon that same day. Both my fiance and I work full time and do not sit behind a desk all day to submit documents whenever needed. When we would finally submit documents they wouldn't get back to us for a day or two. They also quoted us an incorrect amount needed in our account to submit to the underwriters for approval. The mistake was that of nearly $300. They said that it was a "human mistake" but wouldn't take responsibility for the mistake. We had to push our closing date back due to that mistake. Again, everyone we spoke with was polite however I would advise that people research different lenders first.

Overall the process went pretty smoothly. I did feel that the communication could be improved between FBC and Adams Homes. The lender didn't start collecting final documents until two weeks prior to closing, even though they were informed about closing date a month from closing. Ended up being a fire drill to get final documents and funds wired to title company to try to meet the closing date and time. Closing was delayed (from morning to afternoon and we had to adjust our schedules) because package from FBC arrived at title company at 7:10 PM on the night prior to schedule closing.

Personable and Communicative
A colleague recommended Barry to me as someone ideal for a first-time homebuyer and I couldn't be happier. He was quick in his communications and was patient in explaining every aspect of the process. Even when he was out of the office, he made sure that there was adequate, informed coverage of where we were in the process and how to keep us moving forward in his absence. I've heard horror stories of loan officers who have more or less "ghosted" on clients once the paperwork was submitted only to resurface in the final moments. Not Barry; he was checking in and helping to coordinate our loan and legal checklists throughout.
