Great experience overall. The only couple of issues are that it took several months to get an initial reply from the lender. Secondly, we found out just after we closed that rates had gone down quite a bit since our initial agreement to do the loan, and it would have been nice to have been told about it and to have been able to take advantage of that rate. We were under the impression that is what would happen if rates fell.

Everyone I delt with was very professional and kind. Any questions I had were answered very quickly and explained very well to me do to this was my first home and didn't know very much about the stuff they asked for. Emails were answered quickly and the phone was always answered.

Scott and Ken were both very helpful in guiding us through the mortgage process. Donna, their assistant, was very organized and did a good job explaining what documentation was needed and why. In the past we dealt with other lenders who were rather disorganized; lots of last minute requests for documentation, etc. It was extremely aggravating. Not FBC, we exchanged emails and phone calls only on a few occasions and the process went smoothly. The only issue we had with them was their failure to notify me that the mortgage rates change daily; something I should have known, but did not. Essentially, waiting 3 business days on a rate lock decision was a $40 a month mistake over the next 30 years. Again, I should have known, but it would have been nice if that was explained to me.
Eric's Tip: A mortgage is a big commitment, do your homework, and always ask questions if you're unsure about anything.
