Donna Spence was wonderful, dealing with all the snags & delays with the VA. The whole team I worked with went above and beyond to make sure we closed by 10/30/15, less than 30 days.
ROSE's Tip: Veterans, make sure you have your dd2-14 and be willing to call the VA if there are any hold-ups. You will get faster results from the VA on processing eligibility.

Home Loan
We used FBC because our home builder required us to go through them for incentives. We filled out the application and got pre-approved right away. After a few days they sent us forms to fill out and send back to them. I sent them in the following day. We didn't hear back from them for a week and I decided to call them to see the status of our paperwork. It seems that I missed an attachment with a list of paperwork they needed. It would have been nice if someone had reached out to us to let us know they needed more information because we lost a week of time. Once we sent in all the documents it seemed like they misplaced quite a few forms. We ended up sending some of the same documents numerous times. Also we didn't get any updates unless I called them. The loan processor, Donna, would always respond by saying "I was just going to email you." Towards the end of the process I was calling her about everyday. We finally got an email that we were "credit approved" by the underwriter and we just needed to send 3 documents in for the final approval: I sent those forms right away. I set a closing date with Scott Stinson and I assumed we were all set to go. A few days before closing I got an email from Donna saying they needed one more document. It was a document that i needed to order and it would take a few days to receive it. I asked her why they were asking for this document now and if it was going to delay my closing. She responded saying there was nothing she could do and if we didn't have it we would have to delay. We called Scott and he was very helpful and told us not to worry about the form of we didn't get it in time and we would still close on time. We appreciate that he put us at ease during a stressful time. We did get the final approval after a month and a half of stress but in the end it was worth it because we are in our new home.
Michael's Tip: Be prepared for stress. keep calling because they won't call you.

Lack of Communication
Working with FBC was very stressful. We were working with a team of people who did not communicate with each other, or with us. We would send documents to one person, only to be asked for the same documents by another team member a few days later. We would email documents or questions and wouldn't hear back for days, sometimes over a week. While I understand they are busy, professional courtesy would have been nice. We had some other issues that were blown up, as well. First, they blamed FHA guidelines. Until I researched it and proved them wrong. Then, they blamed the underwriter. Until I called the underwriter and confirmed that they had no issues. It was a big run around that came back on FBC Mortgage. If they would have told us they had a problem in the first place, we could have worked through it. Instead I spent 2 weeks going back and forth and trying to figure out why there was an issue. If our builder would have paid our closing costs with any other lender, we would have gladly gone with them, even if it meant our closing would be delayed. I probably will never use FBC Mortgage again, even if we buy another house where the seller offers to pay our closing costs with FBC. It's not worth the hassle.

Knowledgable and understanding they are both willing to give you the information that you need and patient with you when you are trying to work through the loan process. As a first time home buyer I found their service comforting and easy to use. Will probably use anytime in the future when looking for new loans or properties!

First time buyers, very glad we chose FBC!
We decided to go with FBC over our bank or a mortgage broker. They were able to give us a competitive rate, and since we used the builder's preferred lender, we saved thousands in closing costs. The process was relatively painless and we actually closed 4 days earlier than expected. Would recommend to others looking to purchase a new home!

Unsatisfied - Lack of Communication
There was no Communication, i am very unsatisfied with the entire process I am a senior citizen with excelent credit scores, a buy down of rate was applied without my knowledge I had 1 day of notice that there is going to be a closing the next day HUD 1 statement emailed to me the night before closing

Amazing Experience
We went through FBC mortgage after falling in love with an Adams Home. It was their preferred lender and so we checked them out. The next day we were approved for the amount of the house. Took 30 days to get our closing. Everyone was so nice and easy to work with. Couldn't of had a better group of people to help us through buying our first home! Thank you FBC for everything, we loved working with you.
