Jonathan was great, but.
First off, I want to Jonathan was great after our first conversation. He handled my situation very well for being as upset as I was. From our second conversation on he was right on time, very helpful and did absolutely everything he could to help me out. Now, as far as RMC as a company goes, I would never use them again. When we started our process in November I was given an interest rate around 3% which was the going rate at the time. I had asked, not Jonathan, but another employees very specifically if I could lock the rate at this point. I was told no, and this employee told me a couple of lock ranges. The next time I spoke with them I was informed that I could have locked for nearly a year. This mistake on their part cost me nearly 2 more percent in interest. RMC did very little for me in terms of correcting this mistake. I would not recommend them as a company, but I would 100% recommend Jonathan. It seemed he did everything he could to help me out including calling me nearly daily for a while to give me the daily rates and his input. Thanks to Jonathan I did end up saving myself some money by locking at the best time I could after rates started rising.
Donald's Tip: Know that they offer very extended rate locks, and if it is looking good lock when you can. Ask Jonathan about the details of what happens if rates drop, he was very detailed and made my decision easy.

Highly recommend
I worked with Nichol throughout the process. She is amazing. So down to earth and knowledgeable and always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time. She even caught a mistake on my credit that another lender didn’t that increased my pre approval rate. She walked me through step by step and we made our closing date also which these days is impossible. I was very impressed by the entire staff and would highly recommend them.
Chad's Tip: Make sure you have your bank records in order and know what each transaction is for. Any lender will thoroughly go through basically your life. Be patient with the staff. It’ll get very frustrating and aggravating but you’re in good hands.

Disappointing, Frustrating Loan Process
I applied for the new build loan back in August and the home was to close in May. No one talked to me about locking in my rate once they knew my home was ready to close, then a couple days before I was to close they were asking for things such as my salary confirmation, tax returns, etc. I had all of this information packed in a POD. If they could have asked for this information even 10 days before closing it would have been easy to obtain but they ran me around like a crazy woman getting the information WHEN NOTHING IN MY LIFE CHANGED SINCE I APPLIED FOR THE LOAN ORIGINALLY IN AUGUST. They could have asked those questions and asked for clarification a lot sooner than THE DAY OF CLOSING. This was not a last minute purchase, they had plenty of time to take care of the loan process in due time professionally but alas, I was the one scrambling

Terrible experience
It was a terrible process. Poor communication. Jon never got back to me. Asked for the same documents 3-4 times. No communication between loan officer to loan coordinator to underwriter. The craziest this is they failed to fund the closing while I was at the closing… The supervisor said he would call me to discuss the issues and he never followed through.
Robert's Tip: Go somewhere else.

Poor service
Difficult to get a hold of. Never returned calls or emails. Gave inaccurate advice regarding interest rates, told us it’s not a big deal to spend a few extra hundred dollars, and had to submit a ridiculous amount of extra paperwork the week of closing in order to close on time after being told be we did all we needed to.
Amanda's Tip: You really don’t matter, go with a lender who will at least act like they care and want to help you. Do your own research and push to get the information you need and the paperwork done.

Helpful and Supportive
Jon and team were able to help me complete the mortgage process on my new home. They were incredibly responsive and when i had a question they gave great comprehensive answers. The process they follow was very clear, the website they use to collect information was easy to use. I was surprised about the amount of information that was required from the underwriter but i understand why that is necessary. Jon's team was able to answer any questions i had on those requests. Overall it was a great experience for me.
Sean's Tip: Start to pull together key things like tax infromation, prior accounts, etc before starting the pre-approval process.

The FBC Team is exceptionally professional, courteous, and truly goes the extra mile to make sure the experience is painless. Between the online systems, notifications with videos to help align expectations throughout the process, and their ability to react quickly to a changing situation, I would highly recommend their services.

Completely Disappointed
Jonathan had an attitude every time I had questions and concerns along the way during the loan process. I have worked with 3 or 4 other mortgage companies in the past and have never been talked down to and disrespected like I was by Jonathan. The loan originator and loan processors were friendly as long as you just signed and sent what they asked for without asking questions. If you asked questions about the details of what they were asking they would become very distant and non-responsive. In those situations, the originator and processors would pass it off to Jonathan and he would try to bully me or mostly just lie. I was lied to about several things along the way. One conversation we had was when he told me “FBC services nearly all of the mortgages they write” and my loan would be serviced by FBC. I knew better and challenged him because I felt strongly that my mortgage would be sold within a month of my closing date. Fact is my mortgage was sold. The representative from the title company stated at my closing that FBC sells nearly all of the mortgages they write. Thats what she told me as she requested me to sign an acknowledgment that my loan was sold. I would not recommend FBC as a lender and certainly would never recommend Jonathan as a loan officer to anyone. I am completely disappointed. If the builder didn’t offer significant discounts to use their preferred lender (FBC), I would have definitely abandoned FBC during the application process would have gone to one of my previous lenders.

Best Loan Officer
Jon was excellent. Although I have been through the mortgage process before, he went above and beyond answering my questions and helping guide me through the process ensuring I had the best deal. He was always responsive and returned my calls and emails quickly. I would without hesitation recommend him to family and friends.
Cory's Tip: Jon and Nichol were great. Although the loan closed on time. The communication during the processing of my loan was significantly lacking.

I would recommend Jonathan and his team to ALL family and friends. Him, Nichol and Lisa were prompt, helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.
