Everyone involved was pleasant to work with.
A lot of information was needed and some of the information felt a little repetitive. All and all it was a painless process. Thank you!
Michael's Tip: Just make sure have access to all your financial records and tax returns for a couple of years.

Less than stellar
I went with FBC because it was supposed to eliminate closing costs when buying our Maronda home. The experience was terrible. Debra Clark was our loan officer and has poor communication skills. She did not provide timely call back and had a hard time responding to more than one question in an email. When she did answer a question she talked in Lender speak, not in layman's terms, especially when discussing a lock rate. We were not provided a cash to close until 2 hours prior to closing, which I felt was not acceptable. When trying to contact Debra that morning she did return calls or email. I was forced to call a general number then talk to three different people to get a closing cost (Thank you Krissy Osborn for getting us that number).
Nathan's Tip: Don't use FBC, I would rather pay closing costs than use them again.

FBC Mortgage was great to work with
Working with Debra was a pleasure as she made it very clear what documentation would be necessary and she was very responsive when I had questions that needed to be answered. I wish the process could be simplified a bit but I do understand why there was an effort to make sure all financial disclosures where complete and accurate due to the housing crisis from the last 10 years. I would definitely consider using her in the future if there was a need to purchase another home.

Up and Down
First time home owner. Stressful process. Was supposed to get a bond then later on told no. Total cash for closing changed several times and at times got stressful ended up lower cash to close than thought which was awesome. Overall for first time everything went smooth would do again if I could.
Tyler's Tip: Email is key. Very difficult to get ahold of by phone which can be stressful especially when you need specific question answered in timely manner.

Poorest Loan Process Ever
FBC as a whole was the worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with in over 35 years of buying and selling homes. They were unable to ever provide a final and clear list of demands for information some of which was highly questionable if it was even legal for them to demand it. They continually made errors on forms, slow to respond to my requests. When I finally demanded to speak to a supervisor despite being promised that person would call me they never did. What was supposed to be a three week loan process lasted nearly two months due to their incessant demands.
Kevin's Tip: Stay as far away from FBC as possible. even though they may offer you discounts and credits in the end it was not worth it.
