Knowledgeable!

Greg was great to work with throughout the loan process. Great Experience

We purchased our home directly from the builder and were referred to Greg to assist in us with the loan process. He was very informative and proactive from start to finish. He got us all of the information we needed right away and even worked with us when we had to go out of the country during our final month before closing. The entire process was smooth and easy.

Worst Part of the Buying Process

Amongst all of the difficulties and stress of being a first time homebuyer in a difficult market, working with Greg at JHL was the worst of it. I should point out that this all occurred about a year ago. I let this sit for a long time, and while many of the emotions and headache of being a first time homebuyer have faded, my experience with JHL has not. Communication was terrible throughout the whole process, which was critical during a time of such volatile rates. I tried my best to pick up the slack and communicate my questions as clearly and respectfully as possible, but was never given the same treatment in return. It was often difficult to get basic loan information though e-mail, text, or even just to get Greg on the phone. And when I did, the conversations were nightmares. On one occasion I specifically remember being told I was "banging my head against a wall trying to understand too much" while trying to simply clarify the terms of a very expensive (and non-refundable) extended rate lock that was being pushed on me. And later on when I was ready to finalize a rate lock that Greg had offered a few hours before, he declined to help that day and said we would need to do it the following week subject to new rates, which go figure, had increased. As a result I ended up working this through Greg's manager, Chris Z., to get things taken care of. Chris was significantly more helpful and still honored the rate lock that had been offered to me which I appreciated, but ultimately the communication still wasn't what it needed to be. On top of all this, the rates and loan products themselves that JHL was offering were less than competitive. The only reason I wasn't running to a different lender was because we had unfortunately structured our contract with our builder (DreamFinders) to include a significant amount of additional lender credits through JHL. In retrospect this was a big mistake. The majority of the credit turned out to be 'funny money' considering the higher loan costs, so it felt like we were putting up with all the extra drama and stress from JHL for not much value in return. I will say the one redeeming aspect of working with JHL was our processor, Amy M. She was kind, respectful, and communicative. I wish the same could have been said about the rest of our experience. And sure, I may have been just a dumb, annoying, first time home buyer, but it didn't seem like an unrealistic expectation to just communicate clearly and respectfully so that I could make an informed decision about the biggest purchase of my life. It's regrettable that JHL was unable to meet this expectation, and I've certainly learned my lesson about being more selective with a lender in the future.

David's Tip: The unprofessional customer service from JHL was matched only by the uncompetitive loan products that came along with it. Even if you have a large credit from a builder to use JHL, I would strongly recommend considering another lender.

First Time I purchased my home

I was really thinking on how I should write this review. I want to say it was a rough road with working with Greg. At first gathering information was not bad. Easy going. This is my first time buying a home especially it being a new build. I don't know all the terminology that goes with it. I feel my lender being in Florida when I am in Colorado was really tough with time differences. This lender was not my choice. It was Dream Finders who is the builder has this company as their prefer lender. They give the best deal so it's best you use them. Through our communication Greg had lots of attitude and It made me feel I could not approach him to ask him all the questions that are necessary. I know I had to ask many questions more than once. I was told by Greg we already went over that. I told you about that already. When I felt the way he communicated could have adjusted to my level of learning. I feel since he has been doing this for many many years he would understand how new people trying to buy a home speak certain words and understand what I am asking for. I would ask specific questions after being told by Greg to ask about Interest rates to see if they dropped or changed he would not answer fully as I asked. This is important because they don't just tell you automatically when things drop for rate evaluation. He can’t eval everyones loans he has. There were many instances for the way he communicated just belittled me. Then I was able to communicate with Chris. He was a manager above Greg. He was very sweet and thorough which is why I would say the rest of this Loan went through. I struggled with the communication I really don’t like bad reviews. I hope that Dream Finders Finds a Lender that works with our time zones here in Colorado and who has people with good customer service. I am Thankful I finally Have my first home but my Real estate agent went over and beyond to make sure I had all the proper info and break it down to my dummy new home buying knowledge. I hope that Greg in the future can adapt to people who are new to the game and be a little bit more understanding and willing to take the time and really make sure they have a solid understanding and they may need it more than once. This is one of the biggest decision of my life wanted to make sure that I am making the right one.

Manuel's Tip: 1. you might have to explain things more than once that is okay. 2. actually do a full breakdown and review it with the person. 3. Was there only one option or could there have been more than one option? 4. If asked a direct question answer that question for what is being asked.

Lack of communication

There was a complete lack of communication. Passing the responsibility for what was actually needed to what was requested. Talk to this person who then says talk to that person. That last person you dealt with was just collecting documents. Frustrating and unhealthy.

Run, run as fast as you can!

Was not communicative, was annoyed when I called with questions, would send email instead of calling to discuss issues. IN stressful times you need to verbalize issues. Not with him. He did not care. Did not adequately discuss optional loan products and refused to match a better offer I received. That may have been the company and not him personally, but why would you not want the best for your client. Another company offered me a rate 1.5% lower and Jetloans did not offer to match or lower their offered rate as the preferred lender. 7.5% versus 5.99%. Run, RUN!

Kathleen's Tip: I strongly do not recommend this company! The one star was because I had to select something.

Very Stressful Experience

There were many breakdowns throughout this process. I do not have the energy to go into detail. The communication was not where it needed to be. I felt left hanging in the wind. I don't really know where the true blame should be placed but it was a terrible experience. I did not get a closing date until two days prior and the day before I was given a time.
