Frustrating and Unprofessional Experience
Long story short, my experience was poor. The loan officer, Anthony Edwards, was not proactive throughout the process. The job of the loan officer is to make sure that the loan process is moving forward in a timely way by checking off all needed items as submitted and requesting additional items ahead of time. In this case the loan officer was reactive instead of proactive, asking for documents that were missed very late in the game (to be fair I had not submitted some items by error, but was not aware nor notified until too late). This resulted in serious timing issues, a pushed back closing date, and the need for a manager to step in. The real reason for the low review is due to an unprofessional interaction I had with Mr. Edwards. When things got tough and timing was crucial, he turned defensive against myself and my realtor and spent time trying to cover his own tracks instead of helping close with the purchase. Without going into further details, it was unpleasant, frustrating, and an experience I would not recommend.

Loan closing was quick. Anthony and Bonnie answered my questions. My only negative feedback is to reply quicker to phone calls and do not rely on email communication within a day of closing. A direct phone call within 48 hours of a deadline seems more appropriate.

Staff was helpful, expedient in the process. Not only was FBC the lowest rate, but the staff at the Centennial, CO office were up front with all closing costs and honest throughout the process. Refreshing to interact with a group that understands what customer service should be.

very easy process however the website could make it much easier to see what is previously uploaded (the borrower can't see any of the previous uploads currently). Other than that, just ensure the loan terms align with all previous communications between borrower and lender.

Great experience as a 1st time home buyer
Lowest rate and no broker fees sounded too good to be true but it wasn't. Anthony and Bonnie Pater walked us through every step of the way and we were still able to close just outside of 30 days even with some last minute issues from the appraiser. They worked quickly and on weekends to get us closed asap. I have already recommended them to a friend that is now using them and would definitely recommend them to anyone else especially 1st time home owners. Our agent had never used an online lender before and was thoroughly impressed with them. They were available by phone, email and text and would always respond quickly.

The beginning of the refi process was straightforward and timely. However, when the loan application processing began, there were errors in the information that I had to ask to be corrected, I wasn't given full disclosure at the beginning that 100% of escrow would need to be paid at closing, and I did not get straightforward answers about how escrow was calculated. I oftentimes received requests for items I already submitted- seemed a bit unorganized. When I had further questions about escrow payments and amounts, Anthony seemed to get aggravated and replied that he already provided that information and to read my emails. Not very customer service friendly. At closing, I had to have funds sent by a certain date; I set up a cash transfer to the Title Company's bank from my bank account for next day transfer, and had a one day buffer. My bank did not stipulate that it was an ACH vs. a Wire, and just stated 'transfer', and that the receiving bank would receive funds by the next day. I received several phone calls from the title company and Anthony that the bank didn't receive the money. I had to spend an hour on the phone with my bank tracing the transaction, and it turned out that it was an ACH, but that the title company bank hadn't processed or posted it. I then received a few emails from Anthony that "I was instructed to send a wire and I didn't follow the instructions". Not a very customer friendly response, and I discussed these interactions with the branch manager to make him aware of my experience.
Christopher's Tip: Ask for how much escrow will be required at closing so that you understand how much actual cash will be required; be prepared to receive errors and ask for them to be corrected; be prepared to see diminished customer service once your loan application is processed.

Anthony and his team exceeded my expectations with great communication and a thorough understanding of their jobs... and how to make me feel confident. This was my third mortgage/refi and it was by far the best. I highly recommend Home Loans Today as they seem intent on making happy customers.

My refinance experience was outstanding. I was skeptical at first not having done a mortgage refinance through an online bank before. Low and behold it was the best deal I found even when shopping around with well known big name banks that I had many years of service with. But Home Loans Today changed all that for me. My loan officer Anthony Edwards was phenomenal from start to finish. He made my refinance process as seamless as possible. Gave me the best quote and follwed through. His team of processors were also on point keeping on top of everything. Some of my co-workers even refinanced with him. I highly recommend Home Loans Today and will definately consider them again in the future.

The refinance experience provided by Home Loans and the loan officer Anthony Edwards was fantastic. I was informed properly and timely of all the steps necessary to close the loan. The fee is very reasonable and well worth it. It was a great and pleasant experience.

Anthony was very knowledgeable about the process. At times I found it difficult to get in touch with other people that were part of the process, but Anthony usually responded quickly and accurately.
Kyle's Tip: If you are looking for someone to hold your hand every step of the way, this might not be a good match for you. If you can follow directions and don't mind sending email or calling Anthony for information, this will probably be an ok match.
