My experience with FBC Mortgage was not satisfactory at all. I have bought many properties in the past, all new construction, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a lender. Pretty low rating on customer service.

90 Plus days to close on a Refi
My loan started off as conventional in September 2020 and I was told I had to sign a floating rate-lock, so I did. Well, my loan took more than 90 days to close, and because it took so long, the rates for conventional rates went up (got worse) so I had no choice but to chose an FHA loan in order to keep my rates competitive. My wife was the co-signer on the loan and her middle score was the lower of the two so FBC Mortgage based the loan scenario off of her middle score of 698. I am absolutely furious that my loan took so long to close that I actually asked my loan officer to withdraw my loan on two different occasions. I realize that my loan officer has no control over the "circus show" that FBC mortgage calls "processing and underwriting". It is ridiculous that a customer has to wait more than 30 days to close on a loan. FBC Mortgage gives priority to purchase loans and screw over refinance customers by making them wait so long. How do I know this?? Because I was referred by a co-worker who purchased a home through FBC Mortgage and he was able to close in 30 days. I chose to continue with FBC Mortgage mainly because of the professionalism my loan officer showed and, of course, the fact that I was going to save some money by refinancing. It was because my loan officer was so understanding and apologetic of how pathetic FBC mortgage treated me, that I decided to continue with my loan, at my loan officer's recommendation. My loan application started the first week of September 2020, and closed on Dec 16, 2020. Yup, Exactly!!! The only reason why I would even consider doing business with FBC Mortgage again is because of the loan officer, Gina Damiani. So be warned, if you don't mind waiting 3 months or more to close on your refi loan, then this is the lender for you!! I also closed on my investment property with FBC Mortgage and that took about 2 months to close. On that loan, I gave a much better review but based on the experience I had in refinancing my primary home, FBC Mortgage does not deserve a good review! If I could give them ZERO stars I would.
Luis's Tip: On refinance loans, don't sign floating rate locks, you will get burned by FBC Mortgage. Also on refi loans, be prepared to wait more than 90 days to close on the loan. The processor, Canice Canales is friendly but has HORRIBLE RESPONSE TIMES!!

Happy with my refinance
FBC Mortgage has very competitive rates & lender fees and my loan officer Gina Damiani is great to deal with. My refinance process took a bit longer than I would have liked due to the amount of loans being processed as a result of low interest rates during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Gina kept me informed along the way and explained why things were taking a bit longer than expected. Gina did everything within her reach to keep me happy. I am very happy with this transaction and will definitely be doing business with Gina Damiani again. Thank you, Gina!
Luis's Tip: Refinancing may take a little bit longer than expected during high volume times but it's worth the wait.

Great working with Gina
We had a great time working with Gina, she helped us get all our paperwork together. We have crazy busy schedules and a little 7 month old at home so I’m sure we were not easy to work with but Gina never let us know! She made the process smooth and easy for us and we really appreciate it.
