Outstanding customer service
After 20 years in the military and buying multiple homes through Navy Federal Credit Union, I became accustomed to poor customer service, lack of communication, and just plain incompetence of their mortgage department. I believed that was "just how buying a home was". After dropping NFCU and finding Kim at FCB, our home loan went through with ease and at a full 1/2 % less than NFCU! I was amazed at how she advocated for my family and helping us buy our new home. In contrast to my previous bank (which required multiple phone calls and a week for them to call you back), she always answered her phone. Things that took weeks to get NFCU to do, FCB was able to do in a day or two. To me and my family, Kim is basically a hero!
Shawn's Tip: It makes a difference having someone local to handle your loan. I wish I had started my loan with FCB initially instead of wasting my time with Navy Fed Credit Union.

I was rather surprised in going with FBC; not that I have heard anything negative regarding them. The offer I made had offered a 30 day close as opposed to 45 and while that made me nervous, FBC had practically cleared my file in under two weeks. There was very little back and forth requesting documentation. I sent everything they asked that was on the list they provided and that was nearly it. The lender, my realtor and title company all appeared to work seamlessly in the background. It was nice not having to be worried about whether I was going to be able to close on time. They also matched the interest rate and credits offered by other lenders. If it wasn't for that, I probably would have gone elsewhere but my realtor assured me they would likely match and be able to do a 30 day close; they did. It was very much a stress-free loan application process.

I have had the pleasure to work with Kim Dorsett at FBC for many years now, she is the best in the business. Both as a realtor and a consumer she has helped us close many deals quickly and efficiently. She is our number one choice always. Even when other companies can not get the deals done, she will take over the file and get us a loan commitment within 14 days. We just closed on our home this month and again she was excellent to work with. She is upfront and honest with you from the beginning, if she can not get it done she will tell you right away. FBC and Kim Dorsett were very coordinated, cooperative, knowledgeable and efficient. We had lot's of trouble with our buyers finance company and had to postpone the closing several times because of them, Kim kept up with all the changes and made it easy for us to purchase our new house.

Process got a little confusing when Kim's assistant would send a email for information that we had already submitted. Dealing with Kim was much more efficient. We found mistakes on paperwork that had to be corrected.
