It took us 4 months to get the loan and what the underwriters kept requesting was ridiculous. You would have thought we were asking for a million dollars. We owned our property free and clear and only needed the loan to finish renovations. Underwriters you are way to caught up in process and not attune to folks like us who just needed a bridge! Our loan officer, Ed Koch was great and as frustrated with UW as we were.
Kathleen's Tip: Be prepared to give up your first born to underwriting! There really need to be a fast track process for our type of loan.

I'm 22 and this was my first time ever going through the process of buying a house. I was very fortunate to know an agent who was a family friend and wasn't just out to get a quick dollar. I went with Ed because that's who she worked with and recommended using. And I'm glad I did because I felt they had my interests at heart and they made sure I wasn't getting sucked into some trap of a house.
